Call for Demonstrations
The WSDM demonstrations track provides a platform for showcasing innovative research prototypes and functional
systems. It enables authors to share practical insights, engage with leading researchers, and receive valuable
feedback from industry experts and experienced members of the research community. The track offers an
opportunity to exchange innovative and practical ideas among researchers and practitioners. Each accepted
demonstration will also be documented in the conference proceedings, providing broader and lasting visibility
for the work.

We invite demonstration submissions on a broad range of topics related to search and data mining on the Web

Submission Recommendations
An effective submission should capture the interest of active researchers in Web search, data mining, and the
Social Web, and should communicate its significance even to those unable to attend the demonstration session. It
should present and exemplify an innovative solution to a current or emerging problem, supported as appropriate
by a literature review, task analysis, or case study.
The submission should clearly address the following questions:
- What problem does the system aim to solve, and who is its target audience?
- What approach is used to demonstrate the solution?
- What will the demonstration involve, and what functionality will be shown?
- How does the system compare with existing systems?
- What is the potential technical or commercial impact of the technology, including its anticipated adoption timeline and context?
Submission Guidelines
We invite demonstration submissions that align with the topics listed above. The Demonstrations Program
Committee will assess submissions based on the originality of the technical innovations presented, the
complexity of creating the system, its potential significance, and its relevance to the WSDM community of
researchers and practitioners. For submissions centered on case studies, the evaluation will also consider the
significance of the case and its applicability to other similar scenarios.
Authors are invited to submit demonstration papers in English, following ACM formatting guidelines and style
requirements. Submissions must be in PDF format and must not exceed 4 pages, including diagrams, appendices, and
references. Papers exceeding this limit or incomplete submissions will not be reviewed. Unlike regular WSDM
paper submissions, demonstration submissions follow a single-blind review process; authors are not required to
anonymize their identities.
Papers must be submitted electronically through [DEMONSTRATION
SUBMISSION URL TO BE CONFIRMED] and assigned to the Demo Papers track. At least one author of each
accepted submission is required to register for and attend the conference to present their demonstration.
Accepted demonstration papers will be included in the WSDM 2027 proceedings as archival publications.
Submissions must therefore be original and must not have been previously published or be under consideration at
any other venue with archival proceedings. Authors are strongly encouraged to review ACM's authorship and
publication policies before submission.
Authorship
Submitted manuscripts must adhere to the ACM
authorship policy. In particular, (i) each author must be a creator or originator of an idea in the
work;
(ii) each author must make substantial contributions to the work; and (iii) each author must be accountable for
the work and its presentation in a publication. The policy also governs the use of generative AI tools in
authoring papers.
If an author submits numerous manuscripts to the same conference, it is less likely that the author has materially contributed to all of them. Accordingly, the number of demonstration submissions per author is limited to a maximum of 10. If more than 10 manuscripts are submitted with the same person listed as an author, manuscripts submitted after the initial 10 will be rejected without review.

ACM Instructions for Authors
By submitting an article to an ACM publication, authors acknowledge that they and their co-authors are
subject to all ACM Publications Policies , including the
ACM's new
Publications Policy on Research Involving
Human Participants and Subjects. Alleged violations of these policies will be investigated by ACM and may
result in full retraction of the paper and other penalties under ACM policy.
All authors must obtain an ORCID ID to complete the publishing process for an accepted paper. ORCID iDs improve author discoverability, attribution, and name normalization.

Acceptance
At least one author of each accepted demonstration paper must register for the conference and present the
demonstration in person. WSDM 2027 will be an in-person conference, with no provision for remote presentations.
If authors are unable to present their work for any reason, they are expected to arrange for a proxy to present
it on their behalf. The organizers reserve the right to remove from the proceedings any paper that is not
presented during the conference.
Conflict of Interest (COI) Policy
All authors and reviewers must declare conflicts of interest in the conference submission system. A conflict
of interest must be declared when any of the following associations exists:
– Employment at the same institution or company, regardless of geography or location, currently or within the
last 12 months
– Candidate for employment at the same institution or company
– Receipt of an honorarium, stipend, or grant from the institution or company within the last 12 months, except when modest in nature, such as reimbursement of seminar expenses or an honorarium for examining a thesis
– Co-authorship of a book or paper within the last 24 months
– Service as co-principal investigators on a funded grant or research proposal within the last 24 months
– Active collaboration on any project
– Family relationship or close personal relationship
– Graduate advisee/advisor relationship, regardless of time elapsed since graduation
– Deep personal animosity
– Candidate for employment at the same institution or company
– Receipt of an honorarium, stipend, or grant from the institution or company within the last 12 months, except when modest in nature, such as reimbursement of seminar expenses or an honorarium for examining a thesis

In general, authors, Program Committee members, the organizing committee, and other volunteers are expected to

Similarly, failure by an author to disclose all conflicts of interest, or review of a paper by a referee with an undisclosed conflict of interest, may lead to comparable penalties.

ACM Open Access Policy for 2027
Starting in 2027, ACM will continue its fully Open Access publishing model. Authors may publish through the
ACM Open institutional model or by paying an Article Processing Charge (APC). Authors whose institutions do not
participate in ACM Open will need to pay an APC unless they qualify for a financial or discretionary waiver. For
calendar year 2027, ACM has announced subsidized APC rates of USD 500 for ACM/SIG members and USD 750 for
non-members. Authors should consult the ACM Open
information page and current waiver and discount policies for authoritative details.
