The opportunity

Contribute to the tutorial program

We invite proposals for half-day and full-day tutorials at the 20th ACM International Conference on Web Search and Data Mining (WSDM 2027), taking place in Hong Kong, China, February 15–19, 2027. The tutorial day is tentatively scheduled for February 15.

The program welcomes recently emerging topics and trends, surveys of techniques that complement those commonly studied at WSDM, and state-of-the-art guidance for industrial practitioners. Topics may span web search, data mining, information retrieval, social search, and other areas relevant to the WSDM community.

Tutorials should be presented by experts and offer a clear, well-structured, engaging learning experience. Proposals should consider WSDM’s diverse audience from both academia and industry.

Prepare your proposal

Two parts. One submission.

Each proposal must contain a cover sheet and an extended abstract.

Up to 1 page

Cover sheet

  • The tutorial title and requested length (half-day or full-day).
  • A short abstract of no more than 300 words.
  • The intended audience level (introductory, intermediate, or advanced) and any prerequisite knowledge or skills.
  • Information about previous offerings of this tutorial and closely related tutorials, if any.
  • Full contact information for all presenters, with the primary contact person clearly identified.
Up to 3 pages

Extended abstract

  • The motivation for the tutorial and its target audience.
  • A clear outline of the topics to be covered.
  • The tutorial’s relevance to WSDM, with references to related resources and tutorials at relevant conferences.
  • The proposed format and a detailed schedule.
  • The support materials that will be provided to attendees.
  • For tutorials offered previously, the relationship to earlier versions, including substantive differences, additions, changes, audience feedback, and how that feedback has been addressed.
Before you submit

Submit your proposal in English as a PDF using the generic ACM sigconf proceedings template. Placeholder titles or abstracts that do not provide meaningful information, including “TBD”, may be desk-rejected.

Propose a half-day or full-day tutorial. The following session times are tentative.

The final schedule and room allocation will be determined after selection. Organizers may be asked to make minor adjustments to fit the final conference program.
